marzipan monday :: stationery show 2010

last week i was away at the national stationery show for a few days. i can't really remember which number this is for me. i think it's somewhere around #7 or so. this year was different for me than in the past. because of all the changes i've made in my business over the past year, i didn't actually have anything to display in a booth of my own. now that my greeting cards are with a distributor and my fin+roe line is available through the english paper company as citrus & clover, i'm no longer in charge of sales of any of my products! i thought it would be a relief, which it was partly, but it's also a little nerve wracking to hand everything over! luckily i think i'm in pretty good hands in both scenarios!



this was my pretty little corner of the whitney english booth where citrus & clover made it's official debut. i love the framed magnet displays where all of the printed samples were hung.



and here's the album itself. i'm so excited to get it into retailers hands and get their feedback.



i spent much of my time at the show with my friends from a fresh bunch. (please excuse the horrible shots, i was working with limited camera capabilities & bad, bad lighting!) our booth was put together in less than a week which just blows my mind! jenny from hen and barley press was a miracle worker!





a fresh bunch had an amazing response to a great new program we're offering called the print in store program. this program allows retailers to print our great designs right in their store. immediate gratification. above are a few shots of some of the different designs we had on display for the retailers to see in person. below, are some of the designs i'm going to be offering.







i have to say that it was one of my most exciting shows ever! even though i didn't have a booth of my very own, i had many extraordinary things happening all at the same time. i'm so excited to see what the rest of the year has to offer! i have a feeling it's going to be a big year for changes in my company!

marzipan monday :: a fresh bunch :: print in store program

i'm so excited about a new program that the group at a fresh bunch is rolling out at the national stationery show this year. (i happen to be a part of the advisory board for the group!) it's an exciting new program that allows retailers to print manufacturers designs right there in the store! i'm excited to roll out some of my marzipan inc. designs on customizable notecards, labels, and more! here's a quick sneak peek of what i plan on offering!

i'm back from new york. (have been for a couple days) i'm going to try and get back into the swing of things around the house, studio, and this blog. hopefully i can start back up with my daily posts next week. for today, i just thought i'd share some photos of the national stationery show with you.


here's a photo of the booth i shared with 5 other paper gals. this is not what any of our booths normally looks like, but a bunch of us got together at the last minute (only weeks before the show) and decided to share a booth together. so, this is 6 people's work in one tiny booth! it was completely utilitarian, but it worked and was such a great deal. we already have some ideas on how to do it bigger and better next year. (which shouldn't be a problem since we have a whole year to plan this time).


and here are 4 of the 6 of us who came to the show. it's so nice to have such great friends in the paper industry that can join together and accomplish something so big in such little time that benefits everyone. thanks for a lovely show gals!

i'm back!

after a few weeks away from blogging, i'm back! well, at least for today. the national stationery show is this weekend. we leave here on friday to take the kids to my parent's house and then leave very early from there on saturday morning. we should arrive in new york sometime around noon. then it's off to the show to make sure set-up is done, and help finish up if needed. i'm pretty much done, except for the fact that i STILL don't have my album. it's not because i haven't tried. it was sent off to the printer about 2 weeks ago. i've received two of them......both with the holes drilled wrong so they won't fit in my album. very, very disappointing. i'm supposed to get the final version tomorrow (thursday) without holes. i'm going to be punching them one by one to make sure it's done right. i don't have any more time to waste. i'm already going to be putting this thing together in 24 hours along with packing and getting the kids ready for grandma & papa's house. should be fun.

i'm anxious to get photos taken of the album as well so that i can share it with all of you. all in time i suppose. one very exciting thing that's happened in the time i've been away is that a friend of mine sent out newsletters to our customers with a special deal for the purchase of both of our products. i am very excited to say that i've sold several albums already.....before it even exists! at least i know it's worth all the hard work now!

i have a palette full of greeting cards arriving this morning so i better get prepared.

relinquishing the guilt

because the next 3-4 weeks of my life are going to be seriously, tremendously out of control, i'm going to be taking a little break from my daily posts. i'm still going to try and manage my photo of the day, but don't hold me to that either. (however, i would be greatly disappointed to miss my first one)

like i mentioned for my marzipan monday post, i'm heading off to the national stationery show in a couple weeks. this was decided only one week ago. then, about 2 days ago, i decided that since i was there i should really launch fin+roe as a wholesale line. something i had wanted to do already, but didn't think i had time for. after much thought, i've decided it's better for me to do it now than to wait another entire year. so.....here i go. i'm somehow developing/designing/pricing/researching/ an album in approximately 3 and a half weeks. wish me luck!

so from here on out, i'm relinquishing the guilt i feel over not posting for the next few weeks. if i have something to say, i will. if not, you'll hopefully have some pretty pictures to look at. i'll definitely let you know when new scoutie girl posts are live, but other than that, it might be thin!
