when i started this blog back in january of 2005 i had no idea where i was going with it. it was random and sparsely updated. now, 4 years later (wow! 4 years!), i have a much more clear vision of what i want it to be. while it's still a blog about my life, work, & kids, there are definitely things i focus on more than others. limiting my blog to personal or business only is just not me.
so after 4 years and a lot of changes, i hit my 1000th post yesterday. in celebration of this major milestone, i'm holding another giveaway! with the launch of our new etsy site this week i thought it would be appropriate to celebrate the two events together.

thrifted :: suitcase
i have a major obsession with vintage suitcases. we have a few, but i try and limit myself because they take up quite a bit of room. when i came across this beauty though, i couldn't pass it up....especially with its $2.00 price tag! i love that it's not a solid formed case like most vintage suitcases. it reminds me a little bit of an old drs. bag because of it's softer sides and rounded corners. (only much bigger) it's in really great shape and doesn't even smell like stinky old luggage! major bonus!

my hubby, the entrepreneur
so after all the feedback on my giveaway, and ordering prints for people that i wasn't expecting, plus the feature of my photos on the pioneer woman's photography blog, my husband was convinced we needed to do something with my photos. while i'm still unsure of selling my work i agreed he could launch an etsy site if he would be in charge of it. so, here's his little venture that i hope will prove me wrong. if not, i guess i could always say: "i told you so!". seriously though, i'm proud to see my work for sale and i think the shop looks great. we started out with 24 prints, but will be adding more every day. also, if there are other prints you'd like but that aren't uploaded yet, feel free to let us know. we can always set up an item for you. without further ado, i present to you: fresh snapped photos....

fin+roe holiday cards ready!
(ok, so it's tuesday, but i meant to have it ready for marzipan monday)
i'm so excited about our 2010 line for fin+roe. i've been working on the cross stitch patterns for a LONG time. you can take a peek at all of the available patterns here. i even created my very own font from scratch for the new line! (you have 3 to choose from!) we're releasing the holiday cards early so that you can take advantage of them this year. the rest of the line will be coming to fruition over the next couple months, including matching address labels, notecards, and more. we're even planning on adding a few products that weren't in the 2009 line. stay tuned for those!

thrifted :: coral
we remodeled our bathroom awhile back and i was looking for something to put on one of the empty shelves in a cabinet we bought. i wanted to do something very clean and white since the bathroom is very light and bright. i looked online for some coral and found some beautiful pieces, but at $70 minimum, it wasn't really fitting into my plan.
then, only a few days later, i find this piece at a garage sale for $2! (and that included the stand!) i wasn't so sure i was crazy about the stand at first, but now, i'm loving it.
it seems to fit right in with the rest of the room. (which maybe someday i'll actually photograph)
funny how i found exactly what i was looking only a few days after i was researching it online and being disappointed by the prices. have i mentioned yet how much i LOVE thrifting? well, i do. you can find just about anything if you're patient enough.
