my little pianists

over the weekend, the boys were having fun playing a little keyboard i grew up with. (grandma & papa recently handed it down to the grandkids after digging it out of the basement) it was so cute to see them playing together. i particularly liked how the sun was coming in through the window.

that's what he said : part 4

it's that time again! gather around for another episode of "that's what he said!" (if you've missed previous parts, you can find them here, here, & here.)

[his pronunciation of meatloaf] : "meaf - loaf"

[during one of his imagination sessions] : "i'm a flower, you're a sugar, and daddy's an icey"

[what he calls drill bits] : "drill powers!"

[his pronunciation of yellow] : "le-o" (short e)

[after running around the house in circles and collapsing on the couch, short of breath] : "you wear my breath out daddy!"

[my mother-in-law is very italian and sometimes says jokingly : "spacala faccia" which means: slap your face. (spelling may be off, i couldn't find the equivalent online) the little dude's interpretation of it while slapping his hands together] : "spachia faccia"

[the little dude's interpretation of the first two lines to the curious george theme song] :
well everything is so glorious!
"gabading is bobious"

and everything is so wonderous!
"gabading is {unintelligible} -ous!

"everyone eats rainbows and poops butterflies" ....again

i noticed that my visit stats had recently increased to about triple of what they normally are. after a quick check in my stat counter i found that it was caused by a recent post. i'm not sure how it's possible but my little old blog is #1 on google when you search for "everyone eats rainbows and poops butterflies". how funny! i never thought that writing that post would have such a profound effect!

easter

we had a fabulous easter yesterday. the baby's first. the little dude helped the baby find his basket as can be seen below.

the baby had fun bouncing while the little dude searched for both baskets. the little dude found the baby's first.

then it was on to searching for his own. i think the easter bunny probably should have put it somewhere a little easier. we basically had to tell him where to look. at first he would just walk into a room, look around and say "nope, not in here". he didn't understand that he might have to look behind or inside things. we finally managed to steer him to some red decorative boxes that we have in the living room. they have lids, so he actually had to open them which he, of course, didn't understand.

he specifically asked the eater bunny for a new drill as his old one was garbage. after digging into his basket we asked him if there was anything that was missing. he frowned and said "my drill". he looked so pitiful. so off he went to hunt for the drill which was in the second red box underneath the first one. he was one happy camper when he saw that thing!

here's the little dude at the eater egg hunt at my aunt and uncle's house. it wasn't really that cold out, but he's a little obsessed with his hood on his jacket! the baby fell asleep about 10 minutes before the hunt started so he missed it, but the other kids made sure to find some treats for him too.

and here's the little dude with one of his treasures. they were filled with lots of money, tiny toys, and candy. it was a fun day all together.

in preparation

the little dude and i colored eggs for the first time while the baby napped yesterday. here are some pictures of our process. he had such a great time.

watching the colors fizz was a unexpected surprise for him as he dropped the tablets into each bowl of vinegar!

the first round of eggs drying.

checking out his "sticker" options to put on the eggs after they dry.

the guitar was one of his favorite "stickers".

the skull was mine. (not sure how it fits in with easter, but ah well. still loved it.)

little project

here's a quick picture of a little project i did a couple weeks ago. the baby is in love with the tags on all his toys and blankets, so i made him his own blanket full of them. they're super popular with the babies and since i have a sewing machine, i figured i'd make my own instead of going out to buy one. in all honesty, it probably would have been cheaper to go buy one! i went a little overboard with different colored ribbon in different sizes. it would have been way cheaper if i had just stuck to one. oh well.....the artist in me took over....what can i say?

3 year old imagination

the little dude is really into imaginary things these days. we're constantly saying hello to his imaginary monster friends and eating and/or drinking all of his imaginary food concoctions!

over the weekend, the hubby gave him a random controller from an old video game. ever since then, he's been "hooking it up" to things and "playing" them. here's an example of how he "hooked" the controller up to the baby's play matt and was "playing" the matt! (if you can tell, he wrapped the cord around one of the arches in order to "hook it up") so funny what this little guy thinks of!

goodies for school

the little dude and i packed up some easter goodies for school over the weekend. he's such a little helper. he wrote his name on each and every slip that we included in each of the eggs.

he is getting pretty good at writing his letters these days. when he started school in december he hadn't been writing any letters. quite some progress in 3 months!

after he autographed all the slips, he filled all the eggs with candy, meticulously counting out the exact amounts to go in each egg. he was extremely disappointed when he couldn't take them to school on monday. he finally took them today since it's his last day before easter break. he was so excited.

so big....so fast

how does it happen? one day they're a little baby and the next day they're standing up without your help. on one hand it seems like yesterday that the little guy arrived, and on the other it seems like so long ago. the first 6 months have been tough, but i think we're finally getting into a groove. he seems to be pretty much over his colic (finally!), and he's full of laughs, giggles, and babbles. i can't believe how big he's getting!

in my world. . .everyone eats rainbows and poops butterflies*

we took the little dude to the movies on saturday for opening weekend of horton hears a who. it was a truly adorable movie. i'm a huge fan of dr. seuss and was pretty excited to see the movie myself. the colors in this movie were so vibrant and beautiful and i had such a fun time watching the little dude enjoy it and laugh at his favorite parts. it will definitely be one to get on dvd.

my only complaint about the movie was the use of the word "boob". they used in the context of: "man, he's such a boob". not a huge deal but, as a children's movie, probably not the thing you want your child picking up and using at school.

*my favorite quote from the movie.

brotherly love

it's amazing how much my boys already love each other. this is an example of a normal day around here. the little dude is just so in love with his baby brother. never wants to leave him out of anything. always wondering where he is. just all around caring, loving, and wonderful. the baby grins ear to ear when the little dude walks in the room. he calms when the little dude talks or sings to him. it's love all around and just melts my heart. i'm enjoying every bit of it because i know that it will most likely not last forever.

seventh & eighth project finished

the two latest projects to be shipped off to st. jude are the jobs that actually started off the whole relationship with them. my contact there visited my booth last year at the national stationery show and loved my magnets and magnet notecard sets. she wanted to know if i could do the same, but with artwork drawn by the patients at the hospital. and now, nearly a year later, here they are!

this is a set of 6 magnets in a clear acrylic case. (case not shown) you can find it here.

and this is a set of the same 6 magnets along with a set of notecards that you can place them on with glue dots. you can mix and match to make your favorite combination with the different colored notecards. you can find them here.

i love working with this great organization. they truly do wonderful things for children and their families. it's an honor to be a part of their "team", even if i'm only an artist and not a doctor!

6 months

i love the first photo. he was obviously getting a little bored with my photo shoot! such a ham already! of course i have ones of him smiling and having fun, but i thought this one just showed off his little attitude.

and the second photo just because he's beautiful.

6 months : laughing : giggling : sitting up : squealing : loving his big brother : eating lots of big boy food : cuddling : napping (sometimes) : showing everyone who's boss.
